rEVOLution lul (Blog Challenge)

So, uh, I think this is my last  blog challenge post. Hurrah! Had a lot of breaks in between, but I finally made it. And to top off the final one, they threw this prompt on me: What revolution will I lead? …I wasn’t aware I needed to reveal some of my radical backgrounds. But Black Panther jokes aside, what I do want to promote is a sense of inclusion when having conversations and posts on here. For instance, I made a small meme joke within a post about playing at the Konsplosion convention with Radio Phoenix (formerly Aim For … Continue reading rEVOLution lul (Blog Challenge)

What this Space is For (Blog Challenge)

A really good friend of mine–a brother, really–once told me years ago that there were two types of drummers. Cool Ones. And Total Douches. Of course, nothing’s ever that cut and dry but at the time, I kinda understood what he meant. I mean, you could go to some of these shows around town and if you talked to the drummer (or any musician) and gave them a compliment or something, it would either be a fun conversation about how they learned some new technique they used for the show or something like that or turn into an all-out ego trip. … Continue reading What this Space is For (Blog Challenge)

Elevator Pitch? (Blog Challenge)

‘Nother Blog Challenge! Yeah! On some real shit! …Sorry, I’m kinda just using using cannon fodder with words here. So, on to today’s prompt. Elvator pitch…which apparently is supposed to involve what I love and/or excited about. But seriously, is this like a real phrase? *Note: just looked it up; totally is; and totally not what I was led to believe it was, fully at least* But yeah, some projects I’m really excited about: Drumming and playing more around town Really, I gotta thank Carlie a whole bunch for getting me back into the groove (feeling like Stella). As I’ve … Continue reading Elevator Pitch? (Blog Challenge)

Doing What You Love and Shit (Blog Challenge)

So to continue on with the challenge, today’s prompt: name a thing I’m proud of. And of course, since this is a drumming blog and all, I figured I’d talk about a show I played recently and the second band I’m in, The Anchor Babies. The group is really just a duo comprised of my friend Danny, who I mentioned in the last blog challenge post, and myself. Actually, we met on a bus about a month before the show at Konsplosion. He hadn’t been in Fayetteville too long at that point (born and raised in Arkansas but had been in Cali … Continue reading Doing What You Love and Shit (Blog Challenge)

Appreciated (Blog Challenge Day 3…on Day, like 15?)

Kinda failed on blog challenge (if the headliner isn’t enough of a hint) but what the hell, I’m gonna finish this to the end. So, today’s prompt: what do people thank me for. You know, this should be pretty cut-and-dry, I feel like I should be ready to bounce off a detailed piece from this…but it’s really hard, y’all. (also, side note: you ever see Northerners who’ve lived in the South for quite a bit using y’all randomly in statements? It’s weird). I mean yeah, I’ve had many people close to me express how much they’ve appreciated my help, but, … Continue reading Appreciated (Blog Challenge Day 3…on Day, like 15?)

Blog Challenge: Day 2

Prompt: What really makes you angry about the world? …I’m like super fuckin’ tired right now (been a long day), so I’m gonna give this one the bare minimum. Well, probably easy to tell that social injustice and the lack of–and unwillingness to–understand all factors behind these problems is, to say the least, really irksome to me. More on this another time. I’m going to bed. Continue reading Blog Challenge: Day 2

Blog Challenge: Day 1

So, I decided to start a 7-day blog challenge, courtesy of Live Your Legend. Why? ‘Cause damn, I’m shooting these posts out way too slowly. I feel like I have a lot to talk about, just getting bogged down with reviewing how well-written or eye-catching the posts are (which, between you and me, might be making them more incoherent). I want to talk about my drum playing and how I’m learning everyday to interact better with my set and with the music of others. I’m in two bands right now, and I haven’t even shared that yet! I wanna talk … Continue reading Blog Challenge: Day 1
